Francesco Pasquale Ricci fu uno dei musicisti comaschi più apprezzati dal pubblico italiano ed europeo. Nacque a Como il 17 aprile 1732 da una famiglia di commercianti benestanti e si dedicò agli studi letterari e musicali a Milano. Nel 1758 venne ordinato sacerdote e grazie a questa nomina divenne Maestro di Cappella della Cattedrale di Como mentre a Milano fondò un’Accademia musicale ove insegnò anche a membri di importanti famiglie milanesi. Dal 1764 al 1780 soggiornò quasi ininterrotamente all’estero n Germania, Olanda, Francia, Inghilterra, Belgio e Svizzera, svolgendo attività concertistica come cembalista ed organista conquistando anche una buona fama come compositore, tanto che le sue opere vennero edite nei principali centri musicali europei. Fortissima fu l’influenza che ebbe la musica del Ricci su artisti come Bach e Mozart.
Ritornando a Como nel 1780 continuò ad essere attivo in tutte le chiese del centro cittadino componendo parecchia musica sacra. 
Grazie alla fama raggiunta e le numerose amicizie in campo musicale iniziò a farsi costruire una villa a Blevio dove accogliere i suoi ospiti. Si tratta appunto di Villa Bellavista che inizialmente fu chiamata Malpensata forse perché il Ricci non la portò neanche a conclusione e si stabilì a Loveno dove morì nel 1817. Tutti i suoi beni ereditati e i possedimenti famigliari vennero lasciati in eredità all’ospedale Sant’Anna di Como; invece il Museo Giovio ospita il suo fortepiano.

Thanks to the achieved fame and the many friendships in music began to build himself a villa in Blevio where welcome its guests. It is precisely at Villa Bellavista which initially was called perhaps because the Ricci Malpensata not even brought it to an end and settled in Loveno where he died in 1817. All of his family inherited property and possessions were left in the hospital heritage Sant’Anna di Como; instead Giovio Museum hosts its fortepiano.
