L’Hotel nasce nel 1926 su iniziativa della Famiglia Allamel, che rappresentarono per oltre 50 anni una presenza dominante dell’industria alberghiera comasca. In questi anni il Lago di Como era meta di villeggiatura dell’alta borghesia milanese e di un turismo europeo e britannico.
Nacque con la denominazione di Hotel Regina e all’epoca contava su due dépendance a lago e su una struttura interna ben inserita nel borgo di Moltrasio, all’interno di un parco ricco di vegetazione.
Negli anni ’70 e ’80 l’Hotel viene chiuso e ceduto successivamente all’attuale proprietà che decide di affrontare importanti interventi di ristrutturazione e di ampliamento allo scopo di trasformare l’albergo in una struttura ricettiva maggiormente competitiva, in grado di corrispondere alle esigenze di un turismo più eterogeneo. I lavori di ristrutturazione vengono affidati all’ingegner Carlo Terragni. La riapertura si avrà solo nel 1995.
Nei primi anni del 2000 verranno affrontati nuovi restauri principalmente alle camere, rendendo il Gran Hotel un luogo ancora più confortevole e affascinante.

In the 70s and 80s the Hotel is closed and later sold to the current property that decides to face major renovations and expansion in order to transform the hotel into a structure more competitive, able to meet the needs a more diverse tourism. The renovations are entrusted to the engineer Carlo Terragni. The reopening will occur only in 1995.
In the early 2000s will address new restorations mainly to the rooms, making the Grand Hotel a place even more comfortable and charming.
