Hotel Bellagio

Una storia ricca di fascino è quella di uno dei più importanti alberghi del Lago di Como, il Grande Bretagne Hotel.
La sua costruzione ebbe inizio nel 1860 e fu inaugurato solo nel 1873. Inizialmente, il nome prescelto per l’albergo fu Grande Italia, poi trasformato in De la Grande Bretagne. Una struttura immensa che ospitava centosettanta i posti letto a disposizione dei turisti che arrivavano da tutto il mondo. Un hotel di lusso e all’avanguardia, infatti fu il primo sul Lario ad adottare i lampioni a gas.
Nel 1932 la struttura fu arricchita con l’inserimento del casinò Folies du Lac, poi trasferito da Benito Mussolini a Campione d’Italia. Inoltre nel 1949 fu aperta al suo interno la scuola alberghiera internazionale, diventando una delle più ambite e prestigiose.
Tuttavia nel 1972 la Regione Lombardia rilevò la struttura, l’albergo chiuse e constatato ormai il degrado della struttura nel 1980 furono rimossi tutti gli arredi. In definitiva nel 1992 chiuse anche la scuola alberghiera.
Nel 1998 la Regione decise di vendere l’hotel a 18,6 miliardi di lire ma l’asta andò deserta, in seguito il 5 giugno del 2000 venne aggiudicato, per 16,8 miliardi di lire, alla società immobiliare Grimit srl di proprietà dell’imprenditore Mario Galbusera.
E’ un po’ di anni che è stato consegnato il piano di recupero dell’albergo, ma bisognerà ancora attendere a lungo? La speranza è quella che un simbolo del Lago di Como torni a splendere agli antichi fasti.

A story full of charm is that of one of the most important hotels of Lake Como, the Grand Bretagne Hotel.
Its construction began in 1860 and was inaugurated in 1873. Initially, the chosen name for the hotel was great Italy, then it turned into De la Grande Bretagne. In 1998, the Region decided to sell the hotel to 18.6 billion lire but the auction went deserted, after 5 June 2000 was awarded, for 16.8 billion lire, the real estate company Grimit Ltd. properties of ‘entrepreneur Mario Galbusera.
