Al primo piano di Villa Olmo si trova la bellissima Sala del Duca. La stanza deve il suo nome al Duca Guido Visconti di Modrone (1838-1902), appartenente all’ultima famiglia proprietaria di Villa Olmo, prima che la stessa fu acquistata dal Comune di Como. La stanza che fino al 2015 era inaccessibile al pubblico, grazie al contributo di partner importanti e l’impegno del Comune, è stata completamente ristrutturata.
Caratterizzata da decorazioni con fregi di gusto neobarocco che risalgono alla fine dell’Ottocento riconfigurati dall’architetto Emilio Elemagna e una bellissima pavimentazione lignea. Al centro del soffitto invece si staglia un grande affresco di Ernesto Fontana che rappresenta la Fortuna inneggiante ai fasti della famiglia Visconti, sulla sinistra del dipinto i Putti reggono lo scudo con lo stemma Visconti Modrone.
Il Duca aveva utilizzato la stanza come sua camera da letto, ed ora il risultato della ristrutturazione è una stanza di sorprendete fascino.

At Villa Olmo first floor is the beautiful Duke’s Hall. The room owes its name to the Duke Guido Visconti di Modrone (1838-1902), belonging to the last family owner of Villa Olmo, before it was bought by the city of Como. The room that until 2015 was inaccessible to the public, thanks to the contribution of important partners and the commitment of the City, has been completely restored.
It characterized by decorations with neo-baroque style decorations dating back to the late nineteenth century by the architect Emilio Elemagna reconfigured and a beautiful wooden floor. At the center of the ceiling instead he stands a large fresco by Ernesto Fontana representing Fortune extolling the glories of the family Visconti, on the left of the painting Putti hold the shield with the coat of arms Visconti Modrone.
The Duke had used the room as his bedroom, and now the result of the restructuring is a surprising charm room.
