Villa Gallietta è conosciuta da tutti per essere quella villa che lungo la passeggiata pedonale di Villa Olmo, sembra nascondersi tra le fitte siepi del suo giardino. Tuttavia è sempre stata una villa ammirata e frequentata da molti personaggi, nonostante fosse considerata secondaria rispetto alla adiacente villa Gallia. Intorno al 1830, venne eseguita una radicale ristrutturazione dall’architetto Melchiorre Nosetti per il proprietario Giuseppe Franck, medico e Professore presso l’Università di Pavia. Acquisì in questo modo uno stile totalmente neoclassico sia all’esterno che all’interno. Sono questi gli anni di maggiore splendore, infatti abbiamo notizia di un bellissimo romanzo scritto nel 1856 dall’autrice francese Nathalie Comtesse che fa diventare Villa Gallietta il luogo di intrighi amorosi. Il romanzo si trova solamente in lingua francese ma sarebbe magnifico che un giorno potrebbe aggiungersi agli altri bellissimi racconti che rendono ancora più affascinante il Lago di Como.
