La località su cui sorge la dimora è nota come “Cà dell’imperatore” in memoria di uno straordinario evento del 1769: qui, in una casupola preesistente alla villa, si rifugiò l’Imperatore Giuseppe II d’Asburgo, per ripararsi da una violento temporale che lo aveva sorpreso in barca assieme al suo seguito. a ricordo della disavventura, Giuseppe volle che sul luogo venisse collocato un enorme masso (tuttora visibile) con le parole di ringraziamento.
The area where thw building is located is konw as “Cà dell’Imperatore” in memory of an extraordinary event that took place in 1769: the Emperor Giuseppe II d’Asburgo took refuge here in a simple little cottage that pre-dated the villa to shelter from the violent storm that had taken him and his retinue by surise in their boat. In memory of this unfortunate event, Giuseppe wanted an enormous boulder (which can still be seen today) with words of thanks brought to site.
