01Villa Fontanelle fu costruita nella prima metà dell’Ottocento da un eccentrico lord inglese, Lord Currie. Egli, non avendo trovato sul Lario una villa in vendita che lo soddisfacesse, acquistò un terreno sulla riva di Moltrasio e vi fece costruire un edificio in stile neoclassico.
Fra i proprietari successivi si ricorda Antonio Besana, filantropo nonché amico di Giuseppe Verdi.
Lo stilista Gianni Versace che acquistò la villa nel 1977 e si dedicò a un restauro che durò tre anni, così nel 1980 la villa tornò al so splendore neoclassico.

Villa Fontanelle was constructed in the first half oh the 19th century by the eccentric Englishman, Lord Currie. He bought a plot of land on the banks of Moltrasio after filing to find a villa for sale that met his requirements, and had a Neoclassical style building constructed on it.
Among the successive owners remembers Antonio Besana, philanthropist and friend of Giuseppe Verdi.
The fashion designer, Gianni Versace, bought the villa in 1977. At that time the villa was in a state of disperair and had been split up to make room for apartments. Versace himself oversaw, with great passion, the villa’s careful restoration, which took three years.
