Testimoni storici dei giardini di Villa d’Este sono i platani monumentali che si stagliano verso il cielo con le loro folte chiome. Questi sono dei veri e propri monumenti naturali e per loro sono previsti interventi di cura e di salvaguardia per cercare di proteggerli.
Da non molti anni c’è una nuova legge nazionale che si occupa di alberi monumentali. E’ la Legge n° 10 del 14/01/2013 , “Norme per lo sviluppo degli spazi verdi urbani”, che detta all’articolo 7, le disposizioni per la tutela e la salvaguardia degli alberi monumentali, ovvero quegli alberi che per età, dimensione, specie botanica, valore paesaggistico o per un preciso riferimento ad eventi o memorie rilevanti da un punto di vista storico e culturale, sono considerati meritevoli di una tutela speciale. La legge istituisce quindi l’Elenco degli alberi monumentali d’Italia, stilato nell’anno 2016, che saranno tutelati dal Corpo forestale dello Stato.
Chissà se tra questi sarà presente anche il Grande Platano di 500 anni, che misura 8 metri di diametro del tronco e 35 metri di altezza.
Witnesses of the historic gardens of the Villa d’Este are the monumental plane trees that tower into the sky with their thick foliage. These are real natural monuments and for them are provided care and protection measures to try to protect them.
There is a new national law that deals with monumental trees. The Law is the No. 10 of 14.01.2013, “Rules for the development of urban green spaces” that the Article 7, the provisions for the protection and preservation of monumental trees: those trees by age , size, botanical species, scenic value or to a precise reference to relevant events or memories from a historical and cultural point of view, are considered deserving of special protection. The law then establishes the list of monumental trees of Italy, drawn up in the year 2016, which will be protected by the State Forestry Corps.
Who knows if among these will also feature the Great Platano with 500 years, measuring 8 meters in trunk diameter and 35 meters in high.
