Who does not know the legend of the Loch Ness Monster? It is a legend that has been handed down for centuries with alleged sightings and thousands of curious tourists.
However we Italians have our monster of Lake. Certainly less famous, but in the Lake Como is said to live the Lariosauro.
The legend of the monster of the lake in fact was born after the war, when in 1946 the “Corriere Comasco” wrote a mysterious and huge animal appeared in the waters of Pian di Spagna. Since then the apparitions were followed, in 1954, for example, fishermen spotted a strange animal that was swimming in the waters in front of Argegno, eighty centimeters long and with the nose and the back of the body rounded and webbed feet. The most striking episode only three years later, in 1957, when in August between Dongo and Musso was spotted a huge monster whose presence was confirmed, the following month, by some biologists that plunged into the lake with a bathysphere and saw a strange animal with elongated head like that of a crocodile.
After fifty years the monster returned to be talked about in 2003, on the Lecco branch when some fishermen said that he came across a huge animal along more than ten meters from the tapered shapes, like those of an eel. For some time someone had thought about some descendant, mysteriously survived, the Lariosaurus balms, the first reptile fossil unearthed in Italy in mid-800, along between 50 and 110 cm.
A monster natured, fond of fish that was fishing in the depths of the lake, over 200 million years ago.
The fossil longer Lariosaurus is kept in the museum of Monaco of Bavaria and is 90 cm long.
Today on the Lake Monster forgotten few traces remain fossils and some popular legend, even that more and more faded.

But “Lerry”, so it was dubbed the monster, can appear in the water at any moment!
