A partire dagli inizi del ‘900, le residenze sul Lago di Como attraggono sia personaggi famosi che la ricca borghesia. E’ il caso dell’ereditiera texana Funny Hart che nel 1926 chiama l’ingegnere Carlo Mantegazza a ristrutturare Villa Rosa, un edificio in stile eclettico con riminiscenze medioevali che si trova sul versante meridionale del Dosso di Lavedo (Tremezzina – Lenno) . L’intervento dell’ingegnere Mantegazza prevede un rifacimento dell’intero fabbricato esistente in modo tale che le nuove parti della villa sia in stretto rapporto con la morfologia del luogo. La villa diventerà poi di proprietà della stessa famiglia Mantegazza.
Il lavoro di elaborazione continuerà poi nel 1965 con il figlio Giacomo Mantegazza, che lavorerà al riallestimento degli interni adattandoli alle esigenze moderne, ma soprattutto alla cura del giardino.
La volontà degli ingegneri era quella di conciliare aspetti scenografici con quelli naturali, obiettivo raggiunto vista la notorietà della villa e il fatto di essere considerata una delle più affascinanti e romantiche del Lago di Como.
Since the beginning of Twenty Century, the residences on Lake Como attract both celebrities that the rich bourgeoisie. It’s the case of the Texan’s heiress Funny Hart, who in 1926 called the engineer Carlo Mantegazza to restructure Villa Rosa, a building in an eclectic style with medieval reminiscences which is located on the southern slope of Lavedo (Tremezzina – Lenno). The Mantegazza engineer’s project involves a reconstruction of the entire existing building so that the new parts of the villa is in close relation with the morphology of the place, it is seen that the villa will become the property of the family.
The development work will then continue in 1965 with his son Giacomo Mantegazza, who will work to re-equipping of the interior adapted to modern needs, but above all to the care of the garden.
The will of the engineers was to combine scenic aspects with natural ones, goal achieved given the notoriety of the villa and the fact of being considered one of the most fascinating and romantic of Lake Como.
