Sul terreno su cui ora sorge Villa Roccabruna (Casta Diva Resort), sorgeva una bellissima dimora chiamata Villa La Roda, voluta dalla cantante lirica Giuditta Pasta. Anche Villa La Roda fu edificata su di una villa pre esistente che Giuditta tra il 1827 e 1829 fece ristrutturare dalla zio architetto Filippo Ferranti.
Una storia racconta che la cantante era solita affacciarsi alle finestre della Roda a cantare; mentre dall’altra parte del lago, a Moltrasio, il noto compositore Vincenzo Bellini, l’ascoltava incantato dalla sua voce. Si dice che proprio per lei stesse scrivendo La sonnambula e Norma.
Villa La Roda fu demolita nel 1904 appunto per far spazio a Villa Roccabruna. Di essa ci rimangono poche testimonianze storiche, ma la sua atmosfera magica si continuerà a sentire finché la storia di Giuditta Pasta e Bellini verrà tramandata.
The land on which stands Villa Roccabruna, stood a beautiful mansion called Villa Roda, wanted by the opera singer Giuditta Pasta. Even Villa Roda stood on an existing villa that Giuditta between 1827 and 1829 had it renovated by the architect uncle Filippo Ferranti.
